The Chainsmokers & Halsey’s “Closer” Remains #1 On Hot 100; Achieves 2016’s Longest Streak

The Chainsmokers’ “Closer (featuring Halsey)” tops the Billboard Hot 100 chart for a tenth consecutive week.

In doing so, it achieves the longest #1 streak of 2016 — outright.

It was previously in a three-way tie with Rihanna’s “Work (featuring Drake)” and Drake’s “One Dance (featuring WizKid & Kyla),” which each ruled for nine consecutive weeks in 2016.

“Closer,” moreover, ties “One Dance” for the most total weeks spent at #1 in 2016. “One Dance” ruled for a single, isolated week prior to beginning its nine-week streak.

The Billboard Hot 100 ranks songs based on combined activity from sales, streams, and radio airplay. “Closer” remains a strong performer in all three categories.

Sure to generate ample streaming interest, Monday’s music video release could help “Closer” extend its reign as America’s hottest song for a few more weeks.

This week’s Top 10 follows:
10) Shawn Mendes – Treat You Better (-2)
9) Maroon 5 – Don’t Wanna Know ft. Kendrick Lamar (+47)
8) Ariana Grande – Side To Side ft. Nicki Minaj (+2)

6) Bruno Mars – 24K Magic (-1)
