“The Accountant” Wins Weekend Box Office Race, “Kevin Hart: What Now?” Follows

Based on studio estimates, new releases will claim the top two spots at the US weekend box office.

“The Accountant” leads the way with an estimated $24.7 million in weekend receipts. The solid performance comes despite lukewarm reviews.

Fellow newcomer “Kevin Hart: What Now?,” meanwhile, grabs #2 on the weekend chart. It earned $11.98 million in opening weekend receipts.

“The Girl On The Train,” which topped last weekend’s chart, slips to #3 this week with $11.97 million (cume now $46.6 million).

“Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children” falls two spots to #4 with $8.9 million (cume now $65.8 million). Also down two places, “Deepwater Horizon” takes #5 with $6.4 million (cume now $49.3 million).
