Shawn Mendes’ “Treat You Better” is set to claim #1 on this week’s edition of the Mediabase hot adult contemporary airplay chart.
The lead “Illuminate” single received 4,659 spins during the first five days of the October 2-8 tracking week. Up 9.4% from the count at this point last week, the tally slots “Treat You Better” at #1 on Mediabase’s building chart.
After spending the past seven weeks at #1, Sia’s “Cheap Thrills (featuring Sean Paul)” is down to #2 on the building chart. It is presently only 18 spins behind “Treat You Better,” but the Mendes song appears to have the momentum heading into the weekend. Whereas “Treat You Better” is thus far up 9.4% in airplay this week, “Cheap Thrills” is down 2.5%.
“Treat You Better” would represent the second Hot AC #1 for Mendes, who previously topped the chart with his radio breakthrough “Stitches.”
