It was down substantially from last year’s premiere, but CBS’ “The Big Bang Theory” still ranked as network television’s top show Monday.
According to fast national data posted by Showbuzz, the tenth season “TBBT” premiere drew a 3.6 adults 18-49 rating and 15.44 million total viewers. The numbers trail the 4.7 rating and 18.20 million viewer mark garnered by last year’s opener but still rank as the best posted by a Monday night network program.
“TBBT” led into the premiere of “Kevin Can Wait,” which drew a 2.6 adults 18-49 rating and 11.15 million total viewers. The numbers are almost identical to those drawn by last year’s “Life In Pieces” bow (2.6, 11.28 million), which aired out of the aforementioned, higher-rated “Big Bang.”
Of course, insofar as “Kevin Can Wait” features Kevin James (of CBS’ long-running comedy “The King Of Queens”) and theoretically pairs better with “The Big Bang Theory,” the greater retention was to be expected.
CBS closed its night with part two of “The Case Of JonBenet Ramsey.” The broadcast averaged a 1.8 adults 18-49 rating and 8.28 million total viewers. While down modestly from those posted by part one, the numbers are still solid.
