Ratings: FX’s “Atlanta” Rises In Week Two

It is not often that a new television series posts a live+same-day ratings gain in week two.

FX’s “Atlanta” achieved the rare feat.

According to live+same-day data, Tuesday’s “Atlanta” delivered a 0.56 adults 18-49 rating and 1.07 million total viewers.

No matter the comparison one makes to last week’s two-episode premiere, this week’s episode lands ahead in adults 18-49.

Last week, “Atlanta” drew a 0.53 for the 10PM episode, a 0.48 for the follow-up and thus a nightly average of 0.51.

This week’s viewership mark meanwhile bests the average for last week’s broadcasts (1.02 million) and only narrowly trails the 1.08 million posted by the first part of last week’s two-part premiere.

FX insists it does not evaluate ratings until live+3 data is available, but is hard to imagine they are not peaking — and smiling — at the live+same-day performance.

As a point of comparison, fellow FX comedy “Baskets” premiered with a comparable 0.46 rating and 1.04 million viewership mark this January. In week two, it slipped to a 0.35 in the demo and 0.66 million in total viewership.
