Not simply there to perform, Miranda Lambert will receive a new award at the ACM Honors ceremony.
CBS confirms that the country superstar will be honored with the inaugural “Merle Haggard Spirit Award.”
“This new award honors uncompromising artists in the spirit of Merle Haggard, while acknowledging a man who has figured prominently in ACM history,” explains the press release.
Merle was an integral part of the Academy’s history, and it was important to us that we honor his legacy,” adds ACM executive director Tiffany Moon. “We couldn’t imagine anyone better suited to receive the first ever ACM Merle Haggard Spirit Award than Miranda.”
The 10th Annual ACM Honors ceremony will tape at the Ryman this Tuesday. CBS’ resulting two-hour broadcast will air on September 9.
