Fear The Walking Dead [AMC]
AMC’s “Fear The Walking Dead” was easily Sunday’s #1 cable original in adults 18-49 and total viewership.
Its numbers, however, represent series lows.
According to live+same-day data posted by Showbuzz, Sunday’s midseason premiere drew a 1.62 adults 18-49 rating and 3.86 million total viewers.
The series low numbers trail the 3.08 rating and 6.67 million viewer mark drawn by the second season premiere. They are down from the 1.88 rating and 4.39 million audience sum garnered by the spring finale.
“Fear The Walking Dead” did air opposite the Olympics closing ceremony, but the NBC broadcast’s adults 18-49 performance was not much better than that typically drawn by spring timeslot rival “Game Of Thrones.”
The closing ceremony (4.1, 17.03 million) did, however, draw a great many more total viewers than even the most-watched “GoT” installment.
How the show fares next week will give us insight into whether the Olympics broadcast truly impacted this week’s episode.
