The Chainsmokers & Halsey’s “Closer” Reaches #1 On Billboard Hot 100

For the first time in their careers, The Chainsmokers and Halsey hold the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100.

The acts get there courtesy their smash “Closer.” Up five places, “Closer” takes #1 on this week’s edition of the all-encompassing songs chart. It seizes the throne from Sia’s “Cheap Thrills (featuring Sean Paul),” which drops to #2 after four weeks on top.

Billboard’s Hot 100 ranks songs based on combined activity from sales, streaming and airplay. “Closer” ranks as the greatest gainer for all three, and is the week’s top song — period — for sales and streams.

The Chainsmokers had previously gone as high as #3 with “Don’t Let Me Down (featuring Daya).” Prior to “Closer,” Halsey made her biggest Hot 100 mark as a featured artist on Justin Bieber’s “The Feeling.” The “Purpose” track peaked at #31.

This week’s Top 10 follows:
10) Adele – Send My Love (To Your New Lover) (+1)
9) Justin Timberlake – Can’t Stop The Feeling (=)
8) The Chainsmokers – Don’t Let Me Down ft. Daya (=)
