“The Nightly Show With Larry Wilmore,” which has been on the air for roughly nineteen months, will draw to a conclusion next week.
Comedy Central has officially canceled the late-night series.
“The Nightly Show” will air its final episode Thursday; “@midnight” will occupy the 11:30PM slot as Comedy Central readies a permanent replacement.
Comedy Central’s Kent Alterman praised the show’s creative element but acknowledged it has not been resonating with the audience.
“It’s been struggling for quite a while as far as connecting with our audience,” said Alterman. “We stuck with it for a year and a half but ultimately we didn’t feel that we see enough traction to justify doing another year.”
“Nightly Show” premiered in January 2015 as a replacement for “The Colbert Report.”
