The Chainsmokers & Halsey’s “Closer” Reaches #1 On US iTunes Sales Chart

Kenny Chesney’s new “Setting The World On Fire (with P!nk),” which reached #1 on the US iTunes sales chart this past Friday, has ceded its throne.

Now in the #1 position? Another new release.

The Chainsmokers’ “Closer (featuring Halsey),” which has been climbing the chart since its premiere late Thursday/early Friday, is now the best-selling song on the US iTunes sales chart.

The impressive early sales performance comes in conjunction with ample opening week streaming activity — “Closer” was yesterday’s #3 song on US Spotify.

The single is also beginning to erupt at radio; it was the Mediabase pop panel’s #54 song for the July 24-30 tracking week, and it is already #40 on the building chart for the current tracking period.

“Closer” is the follow-up to The Chainsmokers’ “Don’t Let Me Down (featuring Daya),” which spent three weeks as pop radio’s #1 song and peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100.
