Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Dark Necessities” Reaches #1 At Alt Radio; Twenty One Pilots’ “Heathens” Top 5

While it cedes its throne at active rock radio, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Dark Necessities” ascends to the top spot on Mediabase’s alternative radio airplay chart.

After several weeks in the #2 position, “Dark Necessities” reaches #1 on the strength of its ~3,137 weekly spins (+153). The lead “The Getaway” single seizes the throne from Blink-182’s “Bored To Death,” which drops to #2 after five weeks on top.

“Bored” received ~3,106 spins during the July 24-30 tracking week.

Kaleo’s “Way Down We Go” holds at #3 with ~2,793 weekly spins (+60), while Cage The Elephant’s “Trouble” is stationary at #5 on the strength of its ~2,517 tracking week plays (+19).

Up two places, twenty one pilots’ “Heathens” reaches a new peak of #5 on this week’s chart. The “Suicide Squad” single received ~2,402 spins during the official tracking period (+142).
