The premiere of Disney Channel’s new animated series “Elena Of Avalor” drew just over 2.2 million total, live+same-day viewers. It meanwhile tied Disney Channel’s own “Girl Meets World” as Friday’s #2 cable original in the adults 18-49 demographic.
According to live+same-day data posted by Showbuzz, Friday’s 51-minute “Elena” premiere posted a 0.45 adults 18-49 rating and drew 2.22 million total viewers.
Airing out of a rebroadcast of the movie “Frozen,” the “Elena” premiere led into “Stuck In The Middle,” which led into “Girl Meets World.” “Stuck” drew a 0.36 adults 18-49 rating and 2.06 million total viewers, while “Girl Meets World” posted a 0.45 and 2.20 million.
Both live action series were up considerably from their previous broadcasts; Thursday’s “Stuck” drew a 0.23 and 1.49 million total viewers. Last Friday’s “Girl” drew a 0.34 rating and 1.82 million total live+same-day audience members.
The “Elena” broadcast skewed older than Disney’s other Friday night originals; it trailed “Girl Meets World” and “Stuck In The Middle” with viewers 12-34 but topped them in adults 25-54 and adults 50+.
Given that “Elena” is an animated series, there is difficulty in comparing it to Disney Channel’s recent live action launches.
One inclined to do so, however, would likely identify the “Stuck In The Middle” premiere as a relevant comparison point. Like “Elena,” the series premiered following an airing of “Frozen” (albeit on a Sunday and in a later timeslot).
The February 14 “Stuck In The Middle” premiere drew a 0.57 adults 18-49 rating and 2.81 million total viewers.
