Sia’s “Cheap Thrills” Takes Lead In Race For #1 At Pop Radio

Sia’s “Cheap Thrills (featuring Sean Paul)” opens the July 17-23 tracking week as the frontrunner to claim #1 on the Mediabase pop radio airplay chart.

The song received 2,324 spins on Sunday, which marked the first day of the tracking week. Up 11.3% from last week’s count, the tally positions “Cheap Thrills” at #1 on Mediabase’s building pop chart.

While it is still early in the week — and Sunday airplay can be erratic — it is hard to imagine “Cheap Thrills” not earning #1 this week. The other songs in the building Top 5 are either decelerating (The Chainsmokers’ building #2 “Don’t Let Me Down,” Drake’s building #3 “One Dance,” Justin Timberlake’s building #4 “Can’t Stop The Feeling”) or unlikely to close the gap (Calvin Harris’ building #5 “This Is What You Came For”).

Should it indeed claim the pop radio throne this week, “Cheap Thrills” would become Sia’s first #1 on the Mediabase pop chart.
