The Americans [FX Networks]
It took four seasons of critically acclaimed drama, but FX’s “The Americans” has finally broken into the key Emmy Awards categories.
The series, which has been a fixture on “TV’s best” lists since its premiere, received first-time nominations for Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series (Matthew Rhys) and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series (Keri Russell).
“The Americans” additionally picked up nominations for Outstanding Writing and Guest Actress Margo Martindale.
As a series, “The Americans” will contend with “Better Call Saul,” “Downton Abbey,” “Game Of Thrones,” “Homeland,” “House Of Cards,” and “Mr Robot.”
Rhys will battle Kyle Chandler (“Bloodline”), Bob Odenkirk (“Better Call Saul”), Rami Malek (“Mr. Robot”), Liev Schreiber (“Ray Donovan”) and Kevin Spacey (“House Of Cards”), while Russell will be up against Claire Danes (“Homeland”), Viola Davis (“How To Get Away With Murder”), Tatiana Maslany (“Orphan Black”), Robin Wright (“House Of Cards”) and Taraji P Henson (“Empire”).
