James Bay’s “Hold Back The River” Ranks As Hot AC Radio’s Most Added Song

Republic is relaunching James Bay’s “Hold Back The River” at hot adult contemporary radio, and programmers are proving receptive.

Picked up by 16 Mediabase-monitored stations, the song claims the top spot on this week’s Hot AC add board.

“Hold Back The River,” which peaked inside the Top 15 during its original run last year, is already back in the Top 50 on Mediabase’s Hot AC airplay chart.

Lukas Graham’s “Mama Said” and Wrabel’s “11 Blocks” tie for second-most added; each song was picked up by 14 stations this week.

An add count of 11 earns Shawn Mendes’ “Treat You Better” the fourth-most added distinction. With add counts of 8 each, Ariana Grande’s “Dangerous Woman,” Charlie Puth’s “We Don’t Talk Anymore (featuring Selena Gomez)” and Fitz And The Tantrums’ “HandClap” tie for fifth-most added.

This week’s other notable Hot AC options: The Chainsmokers’ “Don’t Let Me Down (featuring Daya)” (7 adds, 8th), Calvin Harris’ “This Is What You Came For (featuring Rihanna)” (5 adds, 9th, tie), Drake’s “One Dance (featuring WizKid & Kyla)” (5 adds, 9th, tie), Rihanna’s “Sledgehammer” (5 adds, 9th, tie), Rob Thomas’ “Pieces” (5 adds, 9th, tie) and Sia’s “Cheap Thrills” (5 adds, 9th, tie).
