“The Secret Life Of Pets” Wins US Box Office With $103M+, “Mike And Dave” Debuts At #4

It was no secret that “The Secret Life Of Pets” was expected to dominate the weekend box office in the US.

Indeed it did.

The new release will debut atop the US box office chart with approximately $103.2 million in weekend receipts. The tally quintuples that of the week’s next-best performer.

“The Legend Of Tarzan,” which holds at #2, earned $20.6 million this weekend. Last week’s champion “Finding Dory” narrowly follows at #3 with $20.4 million.

New release “Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates” starts at #4 with $16.6 million, while “The Purge: Election Year” takes #5 on the strength of its $11.7 million.
