This past June, Ed Sheeran received new multi-platinum certifications for his albums “x” (4x platinum) and “+” (2x platinum).
Sheeran also earned a new digital single certification.
On June 28, 2016, Sheeran’s Grammy-winning “Thinking Out Loud” ascended to 7x platinum in the United States.
The certification confirms a US unit total of at least 7 million. Under the terms of the RIAA’s digital singles program, one unit is equal to 1 paid download or 150 streams.
