Vinyl [HBO]
HBO just dealt “Vinyl” the same blow it delivered to “The Brink” last year.
The premium cable network decided not to move forward with the previously announced second season.
“After careful consideration, we have decided not to proceed with a second season of ‘Vinyl.’ Obviously, this was not an easy decision,” says HBO. “We have enormous respect for the creative team and cast for their hard work and passion on this project.”
To the surprise of ratings pundits, “Vinyl” was renewed quickly after its little-watched premiere episode. The show spent the duration of its first season in disappointing ratings territory, and the tepidly reviewed series did not compensate for its low numbers with critical acclaim.
“Vinyl” was also due to undergo a creative shakeup; original showrunner Terence Winter was replaced by Scott Z. Burns in advance of the now-nixed second season.
