Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Getaway” Pacing To Win US Sales Race With 90-95K; May Challenge Drake On BB200

Red Hot Chili Peppers’ new album “The Getaway” is poised to easily win the weekly US album sales race.

It may also contend with Drake’s “Views” for #1 on the consumption-oriented Billboard 200.

According to Hits Daily Double, “The Getaway” is on pace to sell 90-95,000 pure US copies during the June 17-23 tracking week. While that figure is a far cry from the 229,000 copies moved by 2011 predecessor “I’m With You,” it should easily be the week’s best pure sales figure. As it stands, no other album is even a lock to reach 50,000 in weekly US sales.

Hits anticipates “The Getaway” receiving an additional 10,000 units from TEA (track sales/10) and SEA (track streams/1500) and thus posting a first-week consumption total of about 100-105,000 units. “Views” will likely land in the 100-115,000 range, giving “The Getaway” a shot at #1.

“Views” is vying for an eighth straight week on top.
