Billboard has revealed the albums that claimed #1 on its latest Top Album Sales and Billboard 200 charts. Neither is Ariana Grande’s new “Dangerous Woman.”
Blake Shelton’s “If I’m Honest” takes #1 on the former listing. Per Billboard, it sold 153,000 pure US copies during the May 20-26 tracking week.
An opening week sales total of 129,000 slots Grande’s album at #2 on the pure sales chart.
Shelton’s total comfortably bests that of previous album “Bringing Back The Sunshine,” which sold 101,000 copies in its first week of release. The “Dangerous Woman” sales figure trails that of predecessor “My Everything,” which sold 169,000 in its first frame. It is also shy of the 138,000 shifted by Grande’s 2013 debut “Yours Truly.”
Both previous Grande albums won their opening week sales races, meaning “Dangerous Woman” is the first album to debut below #1.
The Billboard 200 throne remains in the hands of Drake, whose “Views” earns a fourth week at #1. The album posted 189,000 weekly US consumption units (pure album sales + track sales/10 + track streams/1500).
Grande’s album takes #2 with 175,000 units, while Shelton’s release is #3 with 170,000.
Beyonce’s “Lemonade” (#4) and Rihanna’s “ANTI” (#5) round out the Billboard 200’s Top 5.
