RedOne, Enrique, R. City, Shaggy & Serayah’s “Don’t You Need Somebody” Impacts Pop Radio On 6/14

RedOne’s “Don’t You Need Somebody,” which features Enrique Iglesias, R. City, Shaggy and Serayah, is set to receive a formal push at pop radio.

The WB Records-promoted single will officially go for adds on June 14. Other songs impacting that day include The Strumbellas’ alternative crossover “Spirits” and Jordan Fisher’s “All About Us.”

“Don’t You Need Somebody” RedOne’s first official single as a lead artist. He is best known as the producer behind songs released by artists like Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, Sean Kingston, Enrique Iglesias, Jennifer Lopez, and One Direction.

“The reason I chose to become a producer in the first place was being able to explore the sheer number of ideas and musical styles I had,” says RedOne, per a WB Records press release. “It enabled me to work with artists in all different genres.

“I thought that to be a performer, you had to stick to a single sound, and I loved too many kinds of music to do that. But now I find myself wanting to get back to singing and playing, and friends like Enrique have encouraged me to do so. I want to be an artist in a new way, rather than the traditional one. I’m going to do it the RedOne way, which is creating different sounds with different people, doing the records I want to do.”
