Meghan Trainor’s “Thank You” Claims #1 on US iTunes Sales Chart

Meghan Trainor’s “Thank You,” which was made available for purchase just prior to midnight, quickly soared to #1 on the US iTunes album sales chart.

Trainor’s sophomore album seized the throne from Drake’s “Views,” which is #2 as of 12:05AM ET Friday morning. Radiohead’s “A Moon Shaped Pool” is #3, while Beyonce’s “Lemonade” and Pierce The Veil’s “Misadventures” are #4 and #5, respectively.

Success on iTunes does not always signpost success in the overall market, but it should in this case. While specific forecasts were not available at press time, “Thank You” is definitely expected to contend for a top spot on the overall US album sales chart.

The album is the follow-up to Trainor’s 2015 debut “Title,” which sold 195,000 US copies and generated 238,000 US consumption units (album sales + track sales/10 + track streams/1500) in its first week of release. It claimed #1 on Billboard Top Album Sales and the Billboard 200.
