Ratings: “Empire” Avoids Decline In A18-49, Gains Viewers, Wins Night

“Empire,” which had suffered three straight episode-to-episode declines, avoided a fourth. This week’s preliminary adults 18-49 rating matches last week’s final number, and given that the show often receives an upward adjustment in the final report, it may even end up ahead.

It is already ahead in total viewership.

Per fast national data first posted by Showbuzz, Wednesday’s “Empire” drew a 3.7 adults 18-49 rating and 9.85 million total viewers. Last week’s installment posted a 3.7 and 9.56 million in the final report.

As is typically the case, “Empire” led the night in both columns. “Survivor,” which drew a 2.1 and 9.33 million, again represented its closest competition in adults 18-49 and total viewership.

FOX led into “Empire” with “Rosewood,” which drew a 1.3 and 4.78 million, according to preliminary data. Last week’s episode drew a 1.2 and 4.64 million.
