ZAYN’s “PILLOWTALK” Officially Reaches #1 at US Pop Radio

No One Direction single ever went higher than #4 on the Mediabase pop radio airplay.

This week, former member ZAYN’s debut single “PILLOWTALK” reaches the top spot.

Up two places, “PILLOWTALK” claims #1 on the strength of the ~16,723 spins it received during the April 17-23 tracking week. This week’s spin count bests last week’s by a whopping 1,424.

When the week began, the belief was that “PILLOWTALK” would battle DNCE’s “Cake By The Ocean” in a tightly contested race for #1. Thanks to the massive weekly spin gain enjoyed by “PILLOWTALK” — and the sizable loss in airplay endured by “Cake” — there was nothing tight about the race. “PILLOWTALK” clearly earns #1.

“Cake By The Ocean,” in fact, does not even earn #2. That honor goes to Mike Posner’s “I Took A Pill In Ibiza,” which rises from #4 to #2 on the strength of its ~15,484 weekly plays (+981).

Lukas Graham’s “7 Years” also jumps ahead of “Cake,” taking #3 on the strength of its ~15,172 weekly plays (+2,014). It was #7 last week.

The DNCE tune, which was #2 last week, slips to #4 with ~14,849 weekly plays (-770).

After two weeks at #1, G-Eazy x Bebe Rexha’s “Me, Myself & I” slips to #5 with a tracking week spin count of ~14,812 (-1,186).
