Because so much remains unclear about the launch plan, analysts have not yet been able to devise a precise opening week sales forecast for Drake’s forthcoming “Views From The 6.”
They are, however, confident that it will get off to a massive start.
Hits Daily Double, in fact, says sources believe “Views From The 6” could hit 1 million pure US sales if there is a physical CD component to the 4/29 release.
On the digital front, the assumption is that it will be exclusive to iTunes/Apple Music — at least for its first week. Despite that limitation, the opening week streaming number will still be massive. Some believe it can challenge for the record currently held by Justin Bieber’s “Purpose.”
In terms of conventionally billed studio albums, “Views From The 6” is the follow-up to Drake’s “Nothing Was The Same,” which sold 658K first week copies and currently boasts a cumulative total of nearly 1.8 million.
Many, of course, will see it as follow-up to the commercial mixtape “If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late,” which drove nearly 500,000 paid US downloads in its abbreviated first week of availability.
