MTV’s “The Shannara Chronicles” Renewed For Season 2

While not a blockbuster live+same-day performer in adults 18-49 and total viewership, season one of “The Shannara Chronicles” received big lifts from streaming and DVR viewership. It also fared well in the network’s target 12-34 demographic.

The factors, along with recognition of the show’s brand value and support for its creative vision, prompted MTV to order a second season.

“This dream team [co-producing studios MTV, Sonar Entertainment and Farah Films] delivered a beautiful, ground breaking show with compelling stories and character journeys which brought in new viewers. I can’t wait to see what season 2 brings,” said MTV’s Mina Lefevre.

“We’re thrilled to continue the momentum established in Season 1,” added Sonar’s Jenna Glazier. “Along with the ongoing support of MTV, the entire creative team is poised to raise the bar even higher in Season 2.”

MTV has not yet confirmed a premiere date or episode count.
