“Fear The Walking Dead” Premiere Dominates Sunday, But Ratings Slip From S1 Finale

The second season premiere of AMC’s “Fear The Walking Dead” dominated the Sunday ratings race, but its live+same-day adults 18-49 and viewership numbers slipped from the first season finale.

According to data first posted by Showbuzz, Sunday’s episode drew a 3.1 adults 18-49 rating and 6.67 million total viewers. It was Sunday’s #1 show — on both broadcast and cable — among adults 18-49. It was also Sunday’s viewership leader among cable shows.

Both numbers, nonetheless, trail those posted by the second season finale. Airing on October 4, 2015, the S1 conclusion drew a 3.4 rating and 6.86 million viewers. That episode also dealt with competition from Sunday Night Football.

While not the least-watched episode, this week’s “FTWD” was the lowest-rated in adults 18-49.

Still, when a cable program posts a 3.1 in the coveted adults 18-49 and defeats all of its nightly competition, there is absolutely no cause for disappointment.
