FOX’s “Lucifer,” “Rosewood” Renewed For Second Seasons

FOX’s freshmen dramas “Lucifer” and “Rosewood” will be back for the 2016-17 television season.

Each formally received a second season renewal Thursday.

“We knew we had something special with LUCIFER, from the engaging performances of Tom, Lauren and the rest of the charismatic cast, to Len Wiseman’s visually stunning look of the show and the amazing storytelling savvy of the Bruckheimer team,” said FOX’s David Madden. “With ROSEWOOD, creator Todd Harthan has put a fresh, playful spin on the procedural format, infusing it with wit and warmth, while Morris, Jaina and the show’s gifted supporting cast have turned in fantastic performances. We look forward to two stand-out sophomore seasons from both series.”

“Lucifer,” which received lead-in support from “The X Files” for its first few episodes and now leads out of “Gotham,” has posted respectable live+same-day numbers. It has also proven popular across platforms: FOX says the show’s episodes reach an average of 10.5 million total, multi-platform viewers.

From a live+same-day standpoint, “Rosewood” benefits from airing on the same night as FOX’s juggernaut “Empire.” It also fares solidly across platforms, generating 7.8 million total viewers per episode.
