Rihanna’s “Needed Me” Earns #68 at Urban Radio; Slightly Leads “Kiss It Better” At Rhythmic

With Rihanna’s “Work (featuring Drake)” still dominating the airplay charts, urban and rhythmic radio programmers have not yet begun aggressively spinning either of the two follow-ups.

One did, however, receive enough early airplay to secure a Top 70 position at urban radio.

Spun 168 times during the March 27-April 2 tracking week, Rihanna’s “Needed Me” ranks as the Mediabase urban panel’s #68 song.

“Needed Me” is emerging as the clear follow-up to “Work” at the urban format. Fellow “ANTI” single “Kiss It Better,” meanwhile, is filling that role at pop — it officially ranks as the pop format’s #61 song this week.

— Neither song is yet making major waves at rhythmic radio, but “Needed Me” presently has a slight advantage. It received 41 tracking week spins, while “Kiss It Better” received 27. Neither count was enough for a Top 100 ranking.
