ZAYN’s “Mind Of Mine” Wins US Album Sales Race, Will Also Claim #1 on BB200

Each of the four One Direction albums that featured ZAYN debuted at #1 in the United States. ZAYN’s debut solo album “Mind Of Mine” just did the same.

Based on data from Hits Daily Double, “Mind Of Mine” won the US album sales race with a first week total of approximately 114,770 (pure sales). While shy of the 150-175,000 that was projected at the start the week — and even of the 120-130,000 figure that emerged after a softer-than-anticipated first weekend — the total still more than doubles that achieved by the next-best album.

K. Michelle’s “More Issues Than Vogue,” that album, sold what Hits Daily Double says was about 50,853 US copies during the March 25-31 tracking week.

Other notable performers from a pure sales standpoint: Adele’s “25” (approx. 39,012), Joe Bonamassa’s “Blues Of Desperation” (approx. 25,694), Asking Alexandria’s “The Black” (approx. 25,096), Chris Stapleton’s “Traveller” (approx. 23,608), Young Thug’s “Slime Season 3” (approx. 22,171), Anthony Hamilton’s “What I’m Feeling” (approx. 21,767), twenty one pilots’ “Blurryface” (approx. 21,437), and Joey + Rory’s “Hymns” (approx. 18,523).

Due Sunday, Billboard’s authoritative data will likely differ slightly from that reported by Hits. The differential will not change the final outcome: “Mind Of Mine” will claim #1 on Top Album Sales.

It will also claim #1 on the Billboard 200, which accounts for combined consumption activity from pure album sales, TEA (track sales/10) and SEA (track streams/1500). Hits estimates the TEA and SEA boost at around 41,434, which puts the album’s first-week consumption at approximately 156,204.

The final Billboard number will, again, differ, but the differential will definitely not change the outcome.
