Big Sean x Jhene Aiko’s “TWENTY88,” Lukas Graham’s “Lukas Graham,” and Weezer’s “Weezer (White Album)” all arrived Friday.
Based on early sales data, all are expected to post first week US sales totals in the vicinity of 30-40,000.
Hits Daily Double projects “TWENTY88” to land in the upper half of that range (35-40,000); “Lukas Graham” and “Weezer” are currently pacing for first week figures between 30-35,000.
Given the success of single “7 Years,” the Lukas Graham album should nonetheless own an advantage in the consumption category (album sales + track sales/10 + track streams/1500). “7 Years” could provide an additional 10-15,000 units based on its track sales alone.
— In terms of the overall market, one should keep an eye on Chris Stapleton’s “Traveller.” Stapleton will reportedly receive exposure during the CBS Sunday Morning show; he will then perform — and potentially win awards — during Sunday night’s ACM Awards broadcast
Both should (perhaps significantly) boost an album that has already selling upwards of 20-25,000 US copies per week.
She will not receive such a boost, but Adele’s “25” may also land in the same 30-40,000 territory as the new releases.
