“Zootopia” Again Wins Weekend Box Office; “10 Cloverfield Lane” #2, “Brothers Grimsby” Bombs

With a weekend total that nearly doubles the gross of its nearest competitor, “Zootopia” cruises to a second straight US box office victory.

According to studio estimates, “Zootopia” will earn $50.0 million this weekend. The count, which results in a cume of $142.6 million, keeps “Zootopia” at #1 on the chart.

“10 Cloverfield Lane,” the highest-profile new release and the weekend’s #2 performer, follows with $25.2 million.

Holdovers claim the remaining three Top 5 positions; “Deadpool” grabs #3 with $10.8 million, while respective weekend totals of $10.7 million and $4.6 million slot “London Has Fallen” and “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot” at #4 and #5.

Three new releases claim the next three spots. “The Perfect Match,” which was available on 925 screens, takes sixth with $4.2 million.

“The Young Messiah” earns #7 thanks to the $3.4 million it earned from 1,761 screens, while “The Brothers Grimsby” settles for #8. It grossed just $3.2 million across 2,235 theaters.
