Kendrick Lamar’s “To Pimp A Butterfly,” “Alright” Enjoy Huge Sales Gains Thanks To Grammys

Kendrick Lamar delivered one of the night’s top performances. He swept the rap categories. He was nominated for Song Of The Year and Album Of The Year.

Indeed, the Grammy Awards ceremony represented a big night for the artist, and his music received a corresponding sales boost.

According to Nielsen Music, his critically acclaimed album “To Pimp A Butterfly” sold 24,450 US copies during the February 12-18 tracking week. The tally bests the previous week’s mark by 317%.

The album was also up markedly in individual track sales (28,159, +350%) and track streams (9,007,716, +66%).

One of the specific tracks that benefited was “Alright,” which won for Best Rap Song and Performance and was nominated for Song Of The Year. The song drove 14,161 paid weekly downloads in the US, which tops the previous week’s mark by 645%.
