Ed Sheeran’s Grammy-Winning “Thinking Out Loud” Gains 249% In Weekly Sales

Ed Sheeran did not perform “Thinking Out Loud” at this year’s Grammy Awards ceremony.

The smash hit track did, however, receive valuable exposure throughout the ceremony: it resulted in a pop performance Grammy on the pre-show and the Song Of The Year Grammy on the main CBS telecast. It was also in the running for Record Of The Year, which was positioned as the ceremony’s marquee award.

That exposure translated into a big gain in weekly sales. A 249% gain, to be exact.

According to Nielsen Music, “Thinking Out Loud” sold 39,166 US copies during the February 12-18 tracking week. Up from the 11,320 shifted in the previous week, the tally brought the song’s cume to 5,060,987.

“Thinking Out Loud” appears at #24 on Digital Songs.
