Rachel Platten’s “Stand By You” Retains #1 at Hot AC; Adele’s “When We Were Young” Now Top 5

Much like at pop, the week began with the possibility — if not the presumed likelihood — that twenty one pilots’ “Stressed Out” would ascend to #1 on this week’s Mediabase hot adult contemporary chart.

As with the pop format, the ascent did not occur, allowing the previous week’s ruler to extend its reign.

Rachel Platten’s “Stand By You” notches a third straight week as Hot AC radio’s #1.

Platten’s single received ~6,237 spins during the February 14-20 tracking week. Up 16 places from last week’s count, the tally keeps “Stand By You” ahead of twenty one pilots’ “Stressed Out.”

Again the format’s runner-up, “Stressed Out” received ~6,167 weekly spins (+492).

Up three places, Adele’s second “25” single “When We Were Young” reaches a new peak of #3 this week. It attained ~5,328 weekly plays (+351).

Based on preliminary data, Justin Bieber’s “Sorry” and Shawn Mendes’ “Stitches” both received ~5,182 tracking week spins. Since “Sorry” enjoyed a greater weekly spin gain (+13 vs. -117), it wins the tiebreaker and takes #4, while “Stitches” claims #5.

The songs were in the reverse positions last week.
