Lady Gaga’s “The Star-Spangled Banner” Claims #71 at Country Radio

Thanks to her critically acclaimed rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” Lady Gaga makes a splash at a surprising radio format: country.

Gaga’s Super Bowl 50 performance received 55 country spins from 52 stations during the February 7-13 tracking week. Those 55 spins generated enough chart points** for the #71 position Mediabase’s country radio singles chart.

Interestingly, Gaga’s version of America’s national anthem only debuts at #79 on Mediabase’s pop radio airplay chart. Its highest position of all, meanwhile, comes at the adult contemporary format. A weekly spin count of 15 earns Gaga’s “Star-Spangled Banner” the #61 position.

Gaga’s “Star-Spangled Banner” performance, which preceded the Super Bowl matchup between the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers, has been hailed as one of the best celebrity renditions in recent memory.

**Unlike the other airplay charts, Mediabase’s country listing ranks songs based on a points system. Spins are awarded point values based on the size of the market in which they were generated.
