Ratings: “Shadowhunters” Sinks in Week Two, “Pretty Little Liars” Also Down

Last week, the “Shadowhunters” premiere posted solid marks in adults 18-49 and total viewership.

This week, the new Freeform show suffered sizable losses in both columns.

Per Nielsen cable data, Tuesday’s “Shadowhunters” drew a 0.41 adults 18-49 rating and 1.006 million total viewers. The numbers markedly trail the 0.76 rating and 1.822 million viewership mark posted by last week’s premiere.

This week’s episode also suffered losses in other key young demographics (0.78 to 0.47 in adults 18-34, 1.41 to 0.78 in females 12-34).

While this week’s numbers are not terrible by modern cable standards, the extent of the week-to-week drop is undoubtedly significant — and undoubtedly concerning.

— It did not crash to the same extent, but lead-in “Pretty Little Liars” was also down this week. The veteran posted a 0.83 adults 18-49 rating and 1.664 million total viewers, down from the 1.06 and 2.246 million figures drawn by last week’s midseason premiere.

This week’s viewership total is one of the lowest ever posted by a regular “PLL” episode.
