In a press releasing announcing the fifth season of “Total Divas,” E! teased a myriad of upcoming developments.
Before getting to those developments, the WWE-themed reality series must resolve the lingering cliffhangers and address the unanswered questions.
Such are the objectives for Tuesday’s season five premiere, which is entitled “Love Triangle” and airs Tuesday at 9PM.
The episode was screened for critics in advance of the TV broadcast. Here are five things to expect:
Nikki Responds to Dolph’s Proposition
In the closing moments of season four, Dolph Ziggler professed his enduring love for Nikki Bella. Arguing that he, unlike John Cena, was willing to honor her wishes for marriage and children, the WWE Superstar made a case to win back his ex-lover.
The episode (and season) quickly faded to black, forcing viewers to wait until season five for Nikki’s response (unless, of course, they know whom Nikki has been dating in the months following the season four finale).
Season five brings viewers back to Dolph’s proposition — and thus provides them with a front-row seat to Nikki’s response.
The fallout reverberates throughout the season five premiere.
John Responds to Dolph’s Proposition
The season five premiere reveals how Nikki responded to Dolph Ziggler’s proposition.
It also reveals how John Cena, Nikki’s boyfriend and Dolph’s longtime WWE coworker, responded.
Japanese Tour
Set against the backdrop of WWE’s recent Tokyo shows, the episode devotes some focus to Japanese culture. Paige visits a cat cafe. She, Nikki and another guest, meanwhile, treat themselves to fish pedicures.
Brie Plans for Bryan’s Life Away From Wrestling
A pivotal season four disagreement carries over into season five. While the injured Bryan Danielson/Daniel Bryan is committed to recovery and an eventual return to the ring, a concerned Brie believes he may need to give up on that notion sooner rather than later.
In the season five premiere, that concern transforms into action. Brie begins to proactively plan Bryan’s life outside of the ring, in the process bringing their disagreement to a boil.
Paige Addresses Her Engagement
Late last season, Paige accepted a marriage proposal from her boyfriend Kevin. There was just one small problem: she was not truly ready to get married.
Driven by fear of losing Kevin rather than excitement over an engagement, the WWE Diva’s decision was an instant source of regret. That regret carries over into the season five premiere.
By the end of the episode, Paige will have confronted her feelings, faced Kevin, and made a decision regarding the ring on her finger.
