Justin Bieber’s “Purpose,” David Bowie’s “Best Of” Drove 300K+ Weekly Track Sales

Justin Bieber’s “Purpose,” which was the week’s #4 album in terms of pure US sales, was #1 for individual track streams and sales.

Like last week, it dominated in streaming. Nielsen Music reports a weekly streaming total of 42,950,920. Bryson Tiller’s “T R A P S O U L,” the #2 album from a streaming standpoint, followed distantly with 23,307,004.

Its song sales victory, however, was considerably narrower.

While it won last week’s track sales race by nearly 170,000, it led this week’s contest by fewer than 22,000. “Purpose” sold 333,185 weekly song downloads, while the late David Bowie’s “Best Of Bowie” collection shifted 311,513.

The two albums were in their own league from a track sales standpoint; Adele’s “25,” the next-best in that regard, sold 196,786 songs.

With 103,687 combined units (pure sales + track sales/10 + streams/1500), “Purpose” takes #3 on the Billboard 200. “Best Of Bowie” earns #4 with 93,516 total units.
