Coldplay’s “A Sky Full Of Stars” Certified 2X Platinum in the US; “Magic” Goes Platinum

While Coldplay’s new album “A Head Full Of Dreams” is commanding the marketplace’s attention, singles from its 2014 predecessor recently received new certifications from the RIAA.

“A Sky Full Of Stars” officially attained 2x platinum status on December 14, 2015. Three days earlier, “Magic” went platinum.

The digital single certifications respectively confirm US unit totals of 2 million and 1 million. One unit is equal to 1 paid download or 100 streams.

As it had only been certified gold prior to Monday, “A Sky Full Of Stars” retroactively received a platinum certification. “Magic” had not been certified at all — and thus retroactively received a gold distinction.

Both songs appear on the band’s 2014 album “Ghost Stories.”
