The Weeknd’s “In The Night” Reaches Top 40 at Hot AC; Justin Timberlake’s “Drink You Away” Top 50

Songs by two superstar male solo acts enjoy improved positions on this week’s Mediabase hot adult contemporary airplay chart.

The Weeknd’s “In The Night” forays into the Top 40. Up eight places, “In The Night” takes #38 on the strength of the 367 plays it received during the December 6-12 tracking week (+145).

While “In The Night” is the only new addition to the Top 40, DNCE’s “Cake By The Ocean” re-enters this week. The song rises one place to #40 this week on the strength of its 325 tracking week spins (+44). It had previously gone as high as #39.

— Justin Timberlake’s “Drink You Away” also rises this week. Brought back into the limelight thanks to his CMA Awards performance, “Drink You Away” rises three places to #48 on this week’s chart. While a positional rise is a positional rise, its weekly spin count of 167 only tops last week’s mark by a modest 4 plays.
