A decent but unspectacular performer in the key adult 18-49 demographic, NBC’s “Dolly Parton’s Coat Of Many Colors” drew a mammoth viewership total.

Per Nielsen fast national data, the two-hour broadcast averaged a 1.8 adults 18-49 rating and a total audience of 12.842 million. The 9PM hour drew a 1.7 with 12.595 million, while the 10PM portion posted a 1.9 with 13.089 million in total viewership.

In terms of adults 18-49, it was the #2 broadcast network program in the 9PM hour (beneath CBS’ “Mom”/”2 Broke Girls” tandem) but the #1 program for the entire two-hour block. It was easily its timeslot’s most-watched network broadcast.

Indicated the wide disparity between its adults 18-49 rating and its viewership total, the broadcast was very old-skewing. Among adults 50+, a whopping 18% of those watching TV during the 9-11PM timeslot were watching “Coat Of Many Colors.”

— NBC led into “Coat Of Many Colors” with “Michael Buble’s Christmas In Hollywood” (1.1, 7.173 million).
