Adele’s “25” Crossed 3 Million US Sales on Day Six

Adele’s “25,” which had broken the all-time weekly album sales record of 2.416 million by mid-day Monday, continues to sell at a furious pace.

Preliminary data confirms that it crossed the 3 million US sales mark on Wednesday, which was the sixth day of its seven-day opening tracking week.

Prior to the launch of lead single “Hello,” the possibility of a 2 million weekly debut seemed remote. Once “Hello” set the digital sales record — and once monster pre-order data for the album had been accumulated — forecasts were upgraded to 2-2.5 million.

By the time “25” hit the market, experts were eyeing a record-setting debut of 2.5 million. That quickly improved to 2.9 million, before going over 3 million.

The aforementioned Wednesday data confirms it has already sold over 3 million copies. And it still has one day remaining in its inaugural tracking week.
