Ratings: AMC’s “The Walking Dead” Gains, “Into The Badlands” Falls 28% in Week Two

Sunday’s edition of “The Walking Dead,” which addressed the lingering question about Glenn’s fate, posted week-over-week increases in adults 18-49 and total viewership.

Per Nielsen cable data, it drew a 6.65 adults 18-49 rating and 13.224 million total viewers.

The numbers top those of the previous episode, which posted a 6.51 in the key demo and reached 12.871 million viewers.

Sunday’s “TWD” led into episode two of AMC’s “Into The Badlands.”

“Badlands,” which last week premiered to a 3.15 adults 18-49 rating and 6.390 million total viewers, drew a 2.27 rating (-28%) and 4.828 million total audience members (24%) for episode two.

The declines were predictable; the hype and post-“TWD” placement amplified curiosity in last week’s premiere, but the show had no hope of hooking all of the initial samplers.

Despite the declines and low post-“The Walking Dead” retention rate, “Into The Badlands” still easily ranked as cable’s #2 program Sunday night.

“Talking Dead” followed with a 1.51 adults 18-49 rating and 3.208 million total viewers. It is taking a hit without the direct “TWD” lead-in support.
