Justin Bieber’s “What Do You Mean?” Certified 2X Platinum in US; “Sorry” Now Platinum

Justin Bieber’s “Purpose” will soon be named the #1 album in America.

In advance of that big reveal, two tracks from the new album have received good news of their own. Lead single “What Do You Mean?” and current single “Sorry” have both received new certifications from the RIAA.

On November 11, 2015, Bieber’s “What Do You Mean?” received a 2x platinum certification from the RIAA. Under the terms of the RIAA’s digital singles program, the certification confirms a US unit total of at least 2 million.

One unit is equal to 1 paid download or 100 streams.

“Sorry,” meanwhile, received a platinum certification (1 million units) on November 13, 2015. As it had not been previously certified, it also received a retroactive gold distinction.
