“Tennessee Whiskey” Grabs #2 on Sales Chart After Chris Stapleton-Justin Timberlake Duet

Update: Roughly twenty four hours have passed since Chris Stapleton and Justin Timberlake’s show-stealing CMA Awards performance, and the former’s “Tennessee Whiskey” is still #2 on the US all-genre iTunes sales chart.

Timberlake’s “Drink You Away” follows at #3 on the listing. The track, which appears on part two of Timberlake’s “20/20 Experience,” was also included in Wednesday’s duet.

Chris Stapleton’s “Traveller” is up to #6 on the single sales chart, while his “What Are You Listening To?” and “Whiskey And You” are up to #15 and #30, respectively.

An additional nine Chris Stapleton tracks are charting within the Top 200. His album “Traveller” is concurrently positioned at #1 on the iTunes US album sales chart.

While many singles benefited from exposure during Wednesday’s Country Music Association Awards, none scored a sales gain like that achieved by Chris Stapleton’s “Tennessee Whiskey.”

Following Stapleton’s show-stealing duet with Justin Timberlake, the song quickly surged to #2 on the US all-genre iTunes sales chart. It remains in that position, trailing only Adele’s blockbuster “Hello” on the listing.

The next-biggest beneficiary of CMA Awards exposure was also performed by Stapleton and Timberlake. “Drink You Away,” which appears on part two of Justin Timberlake’s “20/20 Experience,” is up to #5 on the iTunes sales chart.

An additional version — that featured on the complete, double-disc version of Timberlake’s album — is #53 on the chart.

Stapleton, whose starmaking night also included wins for New Artist, Album and Male Vocalist of the year, is also seeing surges of activity in his other songs “Traveller” (up to #14 on the iTunes chart), “What Are You Listening To?” (#35), “Whiskey And You” (#78), “Fire Away” (#83), “Outlaw State of Mind” (#99), and “Might As Well Get Started” (#154).

His album “Traveller” is, meanwhile, the #1 album on the US iTunes store.
