Ratings Update: “Quantico” Slips, Still Ranks as ABC’s Most-Watched Sunday Show

Final Ratings: Unlike last week’s episode, this Sunday’s “Quantico” suffered a week-over-week loss in adults 18-49.

It still tied as ABC’s #1 Sunday night program in adults 18-49. It was the network’s top Sunday show in total viewership.

Sunday’s “Quantico,” which was the series’ third airing, drew a 1.6 adults 18-49 rating with 5.747 million viewers. The previous week’s broadcast posted a 1.9 with 6.983 million.

Notable is that in addition to a major market football game between the Giants and 49ers, “Quantico” also dealt with “The Walking Dead.” The last half hour of AMC’s “TWD” premiere battled the first half hour of “Quantico.”

ABC’s other Sunday programming:
America’s Funniest Home Videos – 1.1, 5.333 million
Once Upon a Time – 1.6, 5.276 million (1.8 with 5.379 million last week)
Blood & Oil – 0.9, 3.908 million (1.3 with 5.275 million last week)

Fast National Ratings: Last week, ABC’s “Quantico” held completely steady in adults 18-49.

It could not do so in week three.

Per fast national ratings, “Quantico” posted a 1.6 adults 18-49 rating with 5.670 million viewers. Both numbers trail those of the previous broadcast, which managed a 1.9 adults 18-49 rating and reached 6.983 million total viewers.

Despite the declines, “Quantico” was ABC’s most-watched Sunday night program. It tied for #1 in the adults 18-49 demographic.

ABC’s other Sunday programming:
America’s Funniest Home Videos – 1.1, 5.370 million
Once Upon a Time – 1.6, 5.216 million (1.8 with 5.379 million last week)
Blood & Oil – 0.8, 3.824 million (1.3 with 5.275 million last week)
=============================

Episode three of ABC’s “Quantico” posted a weakened overnight household rating, but it again ranked as ABC’s top Sunday night performer in the metric.

Due by 11:15AM, fast national ratings data will confirm whether the same is true in the context of adults 18-49 and total viewership.

Per Nielsen metered market data, Sunday’s “Quantico” drew a 4.0 overnight household rating. Down by 15% from the previous week’s 4.7, the number still kept “Quantico” ahead of ABC’s other programming.

ABC built to the 10PM “Quantico” broadcast with “America’s Funniest Home Videos” at 7PM (3.2), “Once Upon a Time” at 8PM (3.2) and “Blood & Oil” at 9PM (2.8).

Given its younger skew, there remains a possibility that “Once Upon a Time” closed the gap — or even outperformed — “Quantico” in adults 18-49. By the same token, there is also no guarantee “Quantico” endured a substantial hit in adults 18-49. Last week’s episode fell by 11% in the overnight households but held steady in adults 18-49.

Competition for ABC’s dramas was fierce Sunday night.

The latter half of “Once” and all of “Blood & Oil” and “Quantico” faced NBC’s Sunday Night Football game between the Giants and 49ers. “Blood & Oil” was also forced to endure competition from the season premiere of AMC’s “The Walking Dead.”

Insofar as it ran for 90 minutes, “The Walking Dead” also represented competition for the first half of “Quantico.”
