Update: An opening week total of 109,000 pure US sales earns Janet Jackson’s “Unbreakable” the #1 spot on this week’s Billboard Top Album Sales chart.
Its weekly sales victory was of the dominant variety; no other album sold more than 38,000 copies during the October 2-8 tracking week.
“Unbreakable” also tops the consumption-oriented Billboard 200. With Track Equivalent Albums (10 single sales = 1 album equivalent unit) and Streaming Equivalent Albums (1500 single streams = 1 album equivalent unit) added to its sales total, “Unbreakable” posted a first-week consumption total of 116,000 units.
It becomes her seventh album to claim #1 on the BB200

Janet Jackson’s first studio album in more than seven years easily won the weekly sales race.
According to a Hits Daily Double estimate, Jackson’s “Unbreakable” sold approximately 105,712 pure copies during the October 2-8 tracking week. The mark nearly triples that of the nearest competitor.
While Billboard’s more authoritative data (due in the next few days) will differ slightly, it will not change the overall outcome: “Unbreakable” was the week’s best-selling album and will debut at #1 on the Top Album Sales chart.
“Unbreakable” will also land atop the consumption-oriented Billboard 200. With Track Equivalent Albums (10 single sales = 1 album equivalent unit) and Streaming Equivalent Albums (1500 single streams = 1 album equivalent unit) added to its sales total, Hits estimates that “Unbreakable” posted a first-week consumption total of ~111,941 units.
Other top performers in terms of pure sales: Tamar Braxton’s “Calling All Lovers” (~36,919 sales), George Strait’s “Cold Beer Conversation” (~30,112 sales), Don Henley’s “Cass County” (~26,845 sales), The Weeknd’s “Beauty Behind The Madness” (~25,750 sales), and Drake & Future’s “What A Time To Be Alive” (~25,298 sales).
