CHVRCHES’ “Every Open Eye” Debuted With 34.2K US Sales

Powered by a solid opening week total in the United States, CHVRCHES’ acclaimed new release “Every Open Eye” debuts at #7 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart.

According to Nielsen Music, the Scottish trio’s sophomore album sold 34,214 pure copies during the September 25 – October 1 tracking week. That ranks as the week’s seventh-best weekly sales total — and fifth-best for a new release.

With Track Equivalent Albums (10 single sales = 1 album equivalent unit) and Streaming Equivalent Albums (1500 single streams = 1 album equivalent unit) added to its pure sales total, “Every Open Eye” posted an opening week consumption total of approximately 38,000 units. That allows for a #8 debut on the consumption-oriented Billboard 200.

Predecessor “The Bones Of What You Believe” debuted — and peaked — at #12 on the then-sales-only Billboard 200.
