Ratings: “Heroes: Reborn” Audience Falls Across Two Hours; “The Player” Starts Slowly

Final Ratings Update: Thursday’s two-hour “Heroes: Reborn” premiere drew a 2.0 adults 18-49 rating with 6.09 million viewers.

The broadcast notably lost viewers with each passing half hour.

After starting with a 2.1 and 7.03 million viewers in the 8-8:30PM slot, “Heroes” slipped to a 2.0 with 6.11 million in the 8:30-9PM portion.

It then dipped to a 1.9 with 5.69 million in the 9-9:30PM half hour, before posting a 1.9 with 5.54 million in its final thirty-minute block.

While the progressive decline came with a corresponding increase in competition (Thursday Night Football began at around 8:30, while “Scandal” entered the fray at 9PM), it is a decline nonetheless.

— “Heroes” led into the premiere of “The Player,” which drew a soft 1.2 rating and 4.86 million viewers.

Fast National Update: Neither a clear hit nor a clear flop, the “Heroes: Reborn” premiere drew a 2.0 adults 18-49 rating with 6.49 million total viewers in the 8PM hour and a 1.9 with 5.57 million viewers.

While the hour-to-hour decline came with a corresponding increase in competition (Thursday Night Football began after 8:30, while “Scandal” entered the fray at 9PM), it is a decline nonetheless.

The half-hour breakdown further illustrates the decline:

8-8:30PM: 2.1, 6.95 million
8:30-9PM: 1.9, 6.03 million
9-9:30PM: 1.9, 5.66 million
9:30-10PM: 1.9, 5.48 million

“Heroes” led into “The Player,” which drew a disappointing 1.2 adults 18-49 rating with 4.86 million viewers.

Per metered market data, the overnight household rating for NBC’s “Heroes: Reborn” premiere fell in each of the four half hours.

The “Heroes” reboot opened with a 5.0 overnight household rating in the 8-8:30PM portion. That slipped to a 4.4 in the 8:30PM half hour, and then again to a 4.2 between 9:00-9:30 and a 4.0 for the final half hour.

While the fall can be tied to a corresponding increase in competition (CBS’ football coverage began in the 8:30PM half hour, while ABC’s “Scandal” occupied the 9-10PM hour), a start-to-finish audience decline is certainly not ideal.

The adults 18-49 and total viewership numbers will be required before making an assessment of the overall performance. Those are due by 11:15AM ET.

— The “Heroes: Reborn” launch led into the series premiere of “The Player.” It drew a 3.6 overnight household rating from 10-10:30PM and a 3.3 from 10:30-11.
